Bacon & Broccoli Salad

A must try! We make this several times a year for any family gathering and it always is the first dish to disappear. Easy to make with easy to get ingredients.

  • 1 large skillet

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Heads of fresh Broccoli chopped
  • 8 Slices Bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 1/2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 Medium Red Onion chopped
  • 1/4 Red Wine Vinegar
  • 1/8 Cup Sugar
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2/3 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice

Instructions
 

  • Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until crisp and evenly browned. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and crumble when cool enough to handle.
  • Combine bacon, broccoli, cheese, and onion in a large bowl.
  • Whisk mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, sugar, pepper, and lemon juice together in a bowl.
  • Pour the sauce over the salad and mix together well.
  • Cover and place in the refrigerator until serving. Best if left overnight to get all the flavors mixed together.

Notes

When chopping the broccoli head cut the majority of the stem off, making small florets.
Do not substitute the red onion.
