Equipment
- 8 x 8 baking pan
- mixing bowls
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted / 226g
- 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar /250g
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed / 150g
- 3 large eggs + 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder / 95g
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour / 95g
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate / 170g
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. While it’s still warm, whisk in granulated and brown sugars until combined.
- Whisk in the eggs and egg yolk one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Beat well for about 1–2 minutes until the batter turns slightly paler.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Cool & Serve. Let brownies cool completely before slicing for the best fudgy texture. Enjoy!
