
Coffee Buttercream
Coffee buttercream is a smooth, velvety frosting infused with rich coffee flavor, balanced by the sweetness of butter and powdered sugar. Its deep, aromatic taste makes it a perfect complement for chocolate cakes, cupcakes, or any dessert that benefits from a bold, coffee twist.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons brewed coffee / 28g room temperature
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream / 14g
- 2 teaspoons espresso powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 16 tablespoons unsalted butter / 226g softened
- ½ teaspoon table salt
- 4 cups confectioners sugar / 452g
Instructions
- In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine the coffee, cream, espresso powder, and vanilla. Whisk to combine and dissolve the espresso powder.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the flat beater, beat the butter and salt on medium speed until very smooth, about a minute.
- Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the confectioners’ sugar and coffee mixture.
- Beat the ingredients together on low speed until the sugar is incorporated, then increase the speed to medium; continue to beat until light and fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes
