
Maple Buttercream
Maple buttercream is a rich, velvety frosting with the warm, sweet flavor of pure maple syrup, balanced by the smoothness of butter and powdered sugar. Its sweet, earthy taste makes it an ideal topping for fall-inspired cakes, cupcakes, and other cozy desserts.

Ingredients
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter / 113g softened
- 2 to 2 ½ cups confectioners sugar / 227g to 283g
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup / 39g
- ½ teaspoon maple flavoring / extract plus more as needed
- 1 teaspoon milk plus more as needed
- ¼ teaspoon table salt
Instructions
- Beat the softened butter on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Gradually add the confectioners sugar, ½ cup at a time, mixing on low speed until incorporated, then increasing to medium speed until smooth.
- Mix in the maple syrup, maple flavoring, and salt, beating until fully combined.
- Add milk, one teaspoon at a time, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency, adjusting as needed.
- Continue to beat on high for 1–2 minutes until light and fluffy, then drizzle with extra maple syrup if desired, and spread or pipe onto cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts.
